6 Months with Diana Grace

Updated: Jul 17, 2020

Happy Half Birthday Baby!

Little Miss Diana is really starting to become independent! She can army crawl with the best of them and has no problem getting from room to room like a little inch worm! She even popped her first tooth! Tuesday the 14th of January to be exact! Whatā€™s most wonderful about Diana being mobile is that she can keep herself entertained for a long time now. Just give her a few toys or not (honestly, she is just as happy touching the carpet, couch, table or pillows as she is with toys) and she is one happy camper for the next 45 minutes. Such a change from just a few months ago when she would fuss and cry if I put her down for more than 5 minutes.

Sibling Love

Allan continues to be her biggest comedian! He pretty much can make her laugh at the drop of a hat. His dinosaur roars and endless energy keep her giggling all day long. I must say, it melts my heart every time I see it even if our home is always loud. Allan is always looking out for his little sister too. Like the many times heā€™s run in front of the fire place and tells Diana, ā€œStop Sister!ā€ She really canā€™t get near it but oh man! my hero, let me tell you!

Whatā€™s New?

We are sticking to a schedule. This has been really helpful! I feel like I was floundering a bit trying to juggle two kiddos and nap time but now we have it figured out! Why, as Iā€™m typing this right now both kids are asleep and it should stay that way for the next 2 hours. So amazing! We introduced solid foods last month but this month Diana has really begun to eat her heart out! She chows down way more than her older brother ever did and has the leg rolls to prove it! We are still breastfeeding too and I hope to continue to do so until she is a year old.

How's Momma Doing?

Well Iā€™ve had a busy month of doula clients! Someone must have been passing around the cool-aid 9 months ago because let me tell you, there were a whole lot of babies coming earth side this month! But as always, Iā€™m thankful to have the support of my family who always help us with childcare while Iā€™m supporting a woman as she becomes a mother for the first time! Itā€™s pretty magical.

Some of My Favorite Things

1. The Solly Baby Wrap! Yep, we are still using it and loving it for daily outings.

2. Breastmilk popsicles! With one tooth down and much more to go Diana is definitely a big fan of these cold treats.

3. Natural Baby & Toddler Treats. My mom gave me this recipe book and Iā€™ve certainly been giving it a workout lately.

Some Sad News:

My grandma passed away this week. She hadnā€™t been doing well for a while now, then we found out her cancer had come back. So, on the 25th I took Diana on her first plane ride to Granger Texas to meet her Nana. We took the red eye out of Vegas and landed in Austin at 5am. My big sister picked us up and we drove to her farm house in Granger. Going to the hospital was tough but we were surrounded by family and that always gives us courage. Nana had enough strength to see her great granddaughter. She held her hand and said ā€œsheā€™s so beautifulā€. We visited Nana everyday while we were there in Granger. On the 29th we flew home with my mom. Nana passed away over night on the 30th. We will always love and miss you Nana. We will see again someday.
